My Story

I was educated and trained as a critical care RN. I responded to the emergencies of others and worked collaboratively with team members to find solutions.

My career turned entrepreneurial and I established a training and development consultancy with a colleague that focused on healthcare culture enhancement.  Our team was 8 consultants strong,  and our work focused primarily on building cultures where employees reconnected to a common purpose following a change in leadership.

When time allowed, I volunteered for our community. Like yours, life was full and busy.

We raised a family in the safety of this village, worked fulltime careers, enjoyed potlucks and community events, kayaked, scuba dove, and hiked. We drove the old sea-to-sky highway, then the new one to endless family activities and events in the city.

It is now that I have an inner pull to engage and work to make a difference in our community.

I want to help build collaboration at our council table, to work on the safety and the needs of all generations who live here as well as work to preserve our environment for future generations.

Housing advocate for first responders

  • Following the housing boom of 2017, fire fighter accommodations were at an all time low in Lions Bay. I worked to connect community members living alone, empty nesters and families with extra rooms with in bound firefighters in need of accommodations
  • First responder housing continues to require advocacy.

COVID resident connections

  • 570 loaves in 6 months -- over 72 families felt some pandemic support
  • During the COVID-19 pandemic - connection was important. From our kitchen we setup a 'take out type bakery'
  • Residents would order from a list of sweet loaves offered on Facebook and drop off ingredients the morning of pick  for the following week's baking
  • We delivered to our elder community members so they had a friendly face, a conversation and a sweet loaf for the week
  • Pick ups were at 11 am on our driveway so residents could social distance and visit during the Saturday morning

Volunteers make a difference in the lives of others - it is, in essence, what makes the world go round.
