 RESPONSIBILITY - INTEGRITY - ADVOCACY -  COURAGE

Hello Lions Bay, it's election season

and I am stepping into this municipal race with purpose and hope for our future.

I want to bring fresh energy and practical experience to the council table. I believe we have more concerns in common than we have differences, and together we can build a strong resilient future.

Working Through Challenges

Unity and good governance.

  • Build collaboration and respect at the council table, for every generation that lives here
  • Face the deficit honestly and bring forward realistic achievable plans
  • Rebuild trust through transparent, reliable decision making
  • Improve Village communication / website and to provide current information
  • Restore clear roles; Council sets direction, Staff delivers
  • Reduce legal and audit costs and redirect wasted spending to actionable expenditures

In my first year I commit to the re-establishment of clear boundaries between strategic governance (Council) and operational execution (Staff)

Safety & Security

Working Through Challenges

Working Through Challenges

Climate change is devastating small communities across Canada, and it touches every part of our safety.

  • A secure and resilient water supply
  • Support our fire department (LBFD) rotating fire fighters and first responders
  • Stronger Emergency Support Services (ESS) and disaster preparedness
  • Pursue provincial grants the the Unions of BC Municipalities (UBCM)
  • Safe streets, public spaces and village infrastructure
  • Better bylaw enforcement and better tourism management

My first year I commit to an increase in tourism revenue and to focus on parking issues, highway noise and speed reduction

Advocacy for All

Working Through Challenges

Advocacy for All

Increase community awareness of programs available to our community.

  • Raise awareness of programs available for child care, elder care, community health and mental health
  • Listen to residents' ideas, challenges and solutions as we shape our Official Community Plan (OCP)
  • Ensure OCP reflects residents' values and plans for every generations
  • To acknowledge that each residential area faces different challenges, all deserve care
  • Draw upon the wealth of knowledge in our volunteer community
  • Balance residents' needs with protecting our forested mountainside and wilderness

My Council commitment will be to open up

dialogue around clear cutting private land on mountain slopes and risk reduction

More

We moved here in 1997 because it wasn't the city. It was wild, welcoming and affordable. The sounds of creaky trees, waves and bickering crows were abundant. These are still reasons we live here and why am running for council..

~ Leslie Nolin, Candidate for Councillor, Lions Bay

I want to be the advocate at the table
